I've been wanting to do one of these for a while, but it's only recently that I've got together a set of photography gear together that I'm really pleased with. I mainly shoot street photography and a few events so I don't really need much kit. In fact, all my regular gear fits into a little Tamrac Apache 2 Bag
which is almost perfect part from the slightly awkward buckle.
So that's the bag, but what's inside?
As you can see, the kit I've got crammed into this little big is quite impressive. I'm not saying I know how best to use it all yet, but that's what I'm working on.Here's a breakdown of what I've got:Fujifilm X-Pro2
- an awesome little camera, capable of top quality photos in the right hands. It's quick, it's got 24 mega pixels, let's you change lenses, has weather sealing and is great at high ISO. Basically a great camera for street photography and events. I just wish the battery life was a bit better.Fujifilm XF 16 - 55 mm F2.8 WR Lens
- I was in two minds whether to get this lens or not. It's huge and moved away a bit from the 'compact' kit I was hoping to stick with. However, the 16-55mm range is a good all round range and will be great for events where I don't want to be changing lenses all the time. Plus, reading all the reviews of it confirm that it's an awesome lens and so so sharp.
Fujifilm XF35mm F2 R WR lens
- So fast, so compact, so light, so weather sealed, so good for street photography. What more can I say, one of the best lenses I've used so far.Fujifilm EF-X20 Flashgun
- this tiny little flash gun may seem a bit of a toy and not much use. I thought that at first However, seeing how a few very respected photographers like Kevin Mullins (an awesome article that's a must read) and Andrew Billington have made great use of it for events, I thought I would give it a second thought. It certainly fits in with the compact kit approach I wanted. It's got both manual and TTL control and combined with the Canon compatible flash cable I've got, it means I can use it off camera at arms length to get some nicer light direction during events. and Ex-Pro Batteries
- enough spare batteries to keep me going for a few days. As I said above, the battery life on the X-Pro2 leaves a little to be desired, but as spare batteries are cheap and not too big, I can stick a few in my pocket and not worry about it. I use a few different types of memory card. I'm not too precious about brands, just as long they aren't a cheap and cheerful no name brand.Anker USB Powercore - this is an invaluable piece of kit. I use it mainly for charging my iPhone 6S Plus as I like to edit photos from the camera while I'm out and about which does tend to suck the battery juice out of my iPhone. I could also use it to give my GoPro a bit more juice too, but I don't use the GoPro enough yet to need to.
So there you go. That's what is In My Bag. I am in the market for a Fujifilm 27mm pancake lens too, but other than that. I'm pretty much set.I do have a few other bits of kit that I use occasionally. I've got a Fuji X-Pro1 as a back up body. A couple of Yongnuo flashguns and some Pocket Wizard Plus X wireless triggers. I've got a GoPro Hero 4 Black which I intend to use more and a few accessories for bits and pieces.Oh, and I do apologise for the quality of these images. The iPhone and lighting I had from a window didn't seem to give great results. Soz.
